Position: Sixth Grade Science

Education: B.A. Psychology, Fort Lewis College, Elementary Education Certificate, Fort Lewis College

Bio:
The 2009-2010 school year marks my tenth year of teaching.  All of my experience has been served in either a 5th or 6th grade classroom.  I started my career at Minturn Middle School outside of Vail.  I spent three years teaching 5th grade at Eagle Ridge Elementary in Lone Tree, and the rest of my experience has transpired here at Powell.  I love students this age.  It is an exciting challenge to help them transition from elementary school into independent middle school students.

I grew up in the mountains near Aspen, and I love the lifestyle that comes with living there.  I find myself regularly visiting the mountains to hike, bike and just relax.  I am a huge fan of live music, and it is rare for me not to see someone performing somewhere on any given weekend.  I also pride myself on being an advocate for creating and maintaining a sense of community.  Emphasizing the importance of our environment as well as the individuals in it is key to developing a sense of community.  I try to weave my passion for both of these into my daily life and also my teaching.
